and excited girl!
I just spent a few minutes at Mimie's Microcosms reading her review of several coffeehouses in Vienna and had my first......oh my gosh, we'll actually be in Vienna in a few weeks! moment (the visit, not the move yet - can't get too far ahead of myself). Intellectually, I know the trip is coming up. I even purchased a few travel necessities this weekend. But this was the big AHA! moment. As I read, I could picture myself sitting in the various spots very well, drinking my Grosser Brauner and taking in the scenery. Kiefer and I are coffeehouse people and, well, Vienna is the home of the coffeehouse, so I can't think of a better place to be.
If you're in Vienna or have been there and have a favorite place, please share!

Naawww :) I know the feeling and it will be great! Großer Brauner is always my choice too, if you feel like having one of those together sometime, just holler ;) (once you moved here I meant, don't want to intrude on your honeymoon:)
Here some more tips (somewaht touristic but still nice):
Schönbrunner Tiergarten - The Zoo. Beautiful place with gardens.
Hundertwasser House - A must see, there is also a nice museum around the corner
Naschmarkt and Brunnenmarkt - two open air markets with coffee houses. Different ambience though. Naschmarkt is more of a hotspot and Brunnenmarkt is "little Turkey" but also a meetingpoint for artists and students and so on.
You HAVE to eat at Schnitzelwirt, Neubaugasse. It can be hard to get a table but it is so worht it, it is an experience, the food as well as the waiter
Take care!
If you eat one fancy dinner, go to Zum Schwarzen Kameel (the black camel). AMAZING food, awesome decor, unbeatable waiter facial hair. And get a reservation.
hi there! i stumbled across your blog through an internet search and i just wanted to say i've really enjoyed looking through your posts. its been fab finding you because you've also taken me to other great blogs about vienna, fashion etc. so thanks!
i haven't been living here long enough to say i have a favourite place but i'm trying my best to sample as many places as possible! so i'll let you know how that goes!
So very excited for you! I can almost 'hear' your smile, anticipation and happiness. Love reading your preparation for this next chapter in the life of Caroline & Kiefer. Don't worry too much about your German - I think you'll find your language skills will progress exponentially when you are immersed. Xo
hey, thanks for your message!
i saw that you are also visiting sussex, england as part of your honeymoon. i was born in sussex!! my hometown is brighton. you really should visit if you get the chance. let me know if you would like any tips!
My favorite is Cafe Phil (www.phil.info) near Maria Hilferstrasse. It's smoke-free, which is still kind of rare in Austria. They have free wifi, sell books, dvds and cool 2nd hand furniture.
Hope your upcoming meeting with the city live up to all the expectations. The coffee houses are definitely fun!
my favourite coffeehouse is cafe central. it´s like the hofburg empire dined there, royal interior and piano player.
