Oh, no. I mean, we're talking deal breaker, here, aren't we?
Could be. I'd like to say I'm totally joking, but I don't know if that would be 100% true. :-)
Things like that,American products that were only available to buy on base, were the "extras" local landlords often asked for (unofficially) when renting to military families. Our first landlords loved American ice cream. Formulations were different then, and the Steffans weren't soda drinkers,so I'm not sure which soft drinks were in demand.
Un joli petit voyage...
American and british products are only sold in certain stores. Diet-american harder. Of course you can buy cola in the store but im not sure about the diet one (since i dont drink it).
I miss the american pizza the most and taco bells. There is no american pizza chain here so beware
plus, english movies are only shown in special theatres.
Cola Light should be the same thing as diet coke. It is available veerywhere in Austria.
I'm an American who's been living in western Austria (Vorarlberg) for the last 10 years and we've always been able to get Cola Light, the local version of diet coke, so it should definitely be possible in Vienna. It may be a little different in flavor but is basically the same.
Thanks, Alison, and everyone - looks like Cola Light it will be! And I'm sure I'll get used to the taste.
No! Cola Light is not delicious the way Diet Coke is. (Sadly). I love Diet Coke. Cola Light is like its evil European twin who's thinner and more fashionable.
I have yet to find a soda substitute in Austria that I love. Regular Coke tastes really good here, though--again, not like the regular Coke in the US. Lemon Soda in Italy is my favorite there and "Schweppes Agrumi" is the all-time soda leader in Europe, although I've only seen it in Belgium and Sweden thus far.
Cola Light is ubiquitous in Europe and only subpar.
